magnetic nanoparticles have attracted increasingly attentiuon due to their potential application in many industrial fields. The main features of magnetic nanoparticles are the possibility to be driven by external magnetic fields, the ability to pass throught capillares without occluding them and to adsorb and convert electromagnetic radiation into heat (magnetic fluid hyperthermia). This article will concentrate on the latter two, presenting the synthesis of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles dispersed in diethylen glycol via polyol strategy, the crystal size control throught successive synthesis and how it affects magnetic properties in order to increase hypertermic efficiency.
Finally we present how surface chemistry can be modified in order to change the solubility of the product without affecting magnetic and hyperthermal properties. |
