In a school gymnasium in Montelupo Fiorentino, bathrooms and shower rooms has been rebuilt with tiles painted with a titan-dioxide nanoparticles-based product of PAR.NA.SOS PHOTO, made by Colorobbia Italia SPA, Sovigliana (Firenze). Since this operation has been described as an advanced system, we have heard Dr. Giovanni Baldi, the director of Ce.Ri.Col., wich is the research centre of the tuscan company.

Quadrichromic ink-jet printing on ceramic materials is a new application of this technology. Since currently used ceramic inks show many problems when using with this technology, CeRiCol has developed a new series of ceramic inks based on nanoparticles which will became the new reference point in ceramic ink-jet painting

STEM image (magnification 112175 x): magnetite nanoparticles dispersed in DEG. These particles are produced by the seed method of the "polyol synthesis". They show a very narrow size distribution with a mean diameter of 8,4 nm, in close agreement with the XRD diameter. The particles shape is almost spherical, even though STEM immages with higher magnification reveal the presence of a certain fraction of particle with irregular shape.
